Warning: You might not want to read this post if you plan to read these books.
Just HAD to know what all the hysteria is about. Swarms of 30-somethings dressed-up, lined up, at midnight in bookstores across America (or on the west coast, at least). Women whispering about Edward and Jacob everywhere I go this summer. YOU are the reason I got suckered!
Read the first and almost the entire second and, sorry friends and family, it ends there. I really can't go on! I'm lonely in my non-obsession. It just failed to enchant me. Did I try not to let it? Maybe, but I don't think so. Glad you're all riding the reading rainbow together! I wish I was with you.
I did have a friend fill me in on everything, so I already know how Breaking Dawn ends. HA HA HA! And I'll totally go see the movie, maybe. I agree with my friend Stacy though. This really should have been a t.v. series. Wouldn't that have been gooood?
I like the ending I imagined much better than Meyer's awkward happy ending. A gory fighting match between Edward and Jacob, both fighting to "protect" her, one killing the other and the survivor, forever lost to her anyway because she can no longer love the man who killed the other man she loves. See, tragedy is good!
I'm still craving a great Vampire story. Since this one didn't strike my fancy, I'm going to try these:

Calling all Anne Rice fans! Which one should I read first?

your so weird, you are the only person I know that didn't like the books. lol oh well.
You should have read the third one. It was the best one IMHO. I was disappointed with the ending of Breaking Dawn. Anne Rice books are really really scary. Real vampires. Go to Amazon and figure out which one is first in the series and start there. I think the Vampire Lestat book is first and then Interview with a Vampire. YOu won't be disappointed if you want something scary. I couldn't sleep for awhile. See the movies too. Really scary.
I agree, third one was the best, but I'm starting to think you don't have the attention span to read a series....maybe you shouldn't read Harry Potter (I can't believe I'm saying that!)
While I didn't get obsessed like some, I did still think these books were entertaining. While I didn't like the written ending, I don't like your ending either! It should have been some where in between the two.
Stacy, I can't believe you don't like my ending. I think it's BRILLIANT! Just kiddin. I still think it's BETTER though, and will stand by that. :)
How can you stand by that, when you haven't even read the real ending yourself? What if I left something out..or worse yet...what if I just made something up to appease you?
Ha ha!
I just told my sister Kim that I posted about it, even though I didn't read them all, and she said: "That was jerkish!" Ha haaaaa!
I WAS trusting you told me ALL. But yes, I still stand strong. Haaa!
I did tell you all I thought of, but it isn't the same as reading it for yourself. Be prepared for a lot of criticism if you are going to criticize these books, especially when you haven't even read them. you are a brave soul!
Well I haven't had much yet, but yeah, I know I'll get hammered. I don't care. I have a right to my opinion and I did read almost 2 of them so I feel justified enough. I gave it a real shot!
you mean you didn't even FINISH new moon? Eclipse was REALLY REALLY good I loved that one. And I LIKED the ending of breaking dawn. It was a happy ending, the kind I like. Don't waste your time reading more though cuz you just won't like them if you haven't yet.
I haven't read the books. Check out this blog post about why the Twilight series does NOT classify as a fairytale http://diamondsandtoads.blogspot.com/2008/07/is-twilight-series-like-fairy-tales.html
AND you should read Harry Potter. They ARE good. For some weird reason I'm pleased that you didn't take to the Twilight series.
oh ya. never read anne rice. but it does look interesting. let me know what you think!
Two thumbs down on your ending! That would have enraged all of her fans! The only tragic ending I could have accepted would be for them both to die. I do love tragic love stories! But I am so happy they lived happily ever after.
i'm so glad i'm not the only one! we're kindred spirits for sure then. i never had any desire to read them and couldn't even get through half of the first book.
p.s. one of the girls at pcs said something pretty awesome about this whole twilight craze. she laughed at the girls feverishly passing the books around and said with her snotty british accent (she really was european, finnish or something) "i don't waste my time with those books, i read real literature, like anne rice." i died laughing.
Jojo!! THANK you! I really appreciate the support! Now I have two on MY team! Ha ha! You and Ann Marie! I knew there was a reason to do this post (and admit that I read almost two of these). There must be someone, somewhere out there who gets me! Ha ha ha! So happy to know I'm not alone. Thanks girls!
I'm soooo excited to read these Anne Rice books!!!!
